No 41 Cottage Home, Iowa Sept, 26th 1864 My Dear Husband I am happy to inform you that I am again under the parental roof; and the heart felt welcome that I received did my heart good; I believe I wrote you last at El Passo, I had to wait there thirty hours longer after I wrote to you, for some unaccountable reason the Baggae Master, at Gilman did not send my trunk until the third day after I got to El Passo. The R R Company were liable for my expenses there, but gentleman told me that the managers of the road were never known to pay anything without compulsion, so I thought it best to let the $5.00 go than to sue them for it; Indeed I was very glad to get my trunk
